How To Paint Fake Wood Dresser
Hullo guys, thank you for dropping past! Today, I'm sharing this ninety's dresser makeover and how to pigment laminate furniture WITHOUT SANDING.
But first, have y'all ever bought something because the cost was right, …brought it home and had buyers remorse?
I found this dresser (which also includes a matching nightstand) on Craigslist for 20 dollars. Aye – $xx bucks! Information technology'south laminate but very well built with an interesting skirt detail. The wrought iron legs are what initially attracted me… then turned me off. Every fourth dimension I looked at it in my inventory, it looked more and more 90's to me. Specifically, I think it was the rope particular.

Last week I posted it on Facebook and asked you if I should leave the legs and skirt as-is OR bandy them for wood legs. ALL of you chimed in maxim exit the wrought iron. I'chiliad so glad I took your advice. Now that information technology's painted and restyled, it's a beautiful and interesting piece.
Before I show you lot more 'fancy' after pics, I want to share the issue I had painting this dresser. Information technology's laminate so it has a glossy/slick surface that the chalk-mineral paint wasn't sticking to. Fifty-fifty later on 24 hours, information technology was still scratching off with my nail.
A while back, Dixie Belle had sent me this bonding primer to try. Thank you, DB! I've seen other bloggers use information technology on ceramic tile and glass, so I gave it a go on this laminate.
Guys, this Slick Stick is amazing. It'south easy to utilize and clean up, sticks like nobody's business and doesn't stink up my workspace like my become-to shellac-based primer. And the best part – NO SANDING required!
Here's the finished makeover. What exercise you think?
I used my layering and dry out brush painting techniques to get this boho mottled coloring and pattern. With the layers of color and brushing technique, it looks very textured, but when y'all rub your hand over this dresser, the cease is super smoothen.
I simply applied the Slick-Stick to the laminate – non the wrought iron skirt and legs. For the iron brim, I created patina by using bronze patina pigment and turquoise teal gilding wax.
So thank you once again to all of you who chimed in on FB and a big thanks to Dixie Belle… some other astonishing production guys. 🙂
